Batting .500! After a very busy winter writing grants, the hard work was rewarded when we received news that we had secured three out of six!
We received funds from the Community Foundation of Eastern CT to hire a part-time Executive Director, funding for an extensive Vulnerability Study (details once the paperwork is done), and a large grant from LIS Community Impact Fund for a series of youth-centered problem-solving and design sessions, which includes funding for a grants manager. More to come on each of these grants - stay tuned for job postings!
And while we did NOT get a grant to assess the lakes' water quality, build a volunteer hydrilla control education program, or develop a long-term funds and organizational management strategy, we are still seeking funding for the first two, and are getting some generously shared advice on the last.
Do YOU have experience in strategic planning or organizational management? Would YOU be willing to advise? The Alliance is seeking two volunteers for our Finance and two for our Governance teams to assist our Board and help the Alliance not only grow big but to grow strong and sustainable! If you're interested, please email our First Chair Director Maggie Favretti.
